Authorities on Sunday reported 33 drunk-driving arrests in Ventura County during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The holiday attracted the normal heavy traffic to Ventura County, but California Highway Patrol officials reported no major accidents. One major injury accident occurred Friday afternoon near Camarillo, in which a pedestrian was hit by a motorist, the CHP said.
Authorities also reported minor injury accidents in Ventura and Camarillo on Sunday, and two minor fender-benders in Thousand Oaks.
CHP officials said the number of drunk-driving arrests, measured from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Sunday, are about average for a Thanksgiving weekend. None were involved in a major accident, CHP said.
“It’s been a pretty decent weekend,” Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Cook said. “At holiday times, most people are having a good time, and we’re not going to have too many problems.”
