1993 PREP FOOTBALL ALL-STARS : South Coast Team Also Packs Punch on Ground

LONG BEACH AREA — Ground attacks and big linemen also dominate The Times’ South Coast All-Star High School Football Team.
Nine schools are represented on the first team, led by Moore League champion Poly and San Gabriel Valley League titlist Paramount with five each, and San Gabriel Valley League runner-up Dominguez with four.
The first team includes wide receiver Larmar Melson (Cerritos) and tight end Thomas Moeai (Paramount).
Offensive linemen are Matt Howard and Gabe Hernandez (Lakewood), Curtis Armour (Dominguez), Terry Jurekovic (Paramount) and Chris Tuliau (Poly).
The quarterback is Robert Toler of Poly. He is surrounded by running backs Zachery Sworpshire (Dominguez), Mark Hays (Bellflower) and Ryan Williams (St. John Bosco).
The kicker is Ryan Downey (Poly).
Defensive linemen include Bruce Bible (Dominguez), Terrance Jackson (Paramount) and Brandon Whiting (Poly).
The linebacking corps features Atunaisa Fonua (Artesia), Donnell Woodbey (Dominguez), Lovell Alford (Millikan), Andre Benson (Paramount) and Danjuan McGee (Poly).
Defensive backs are Joe Austin (Lynwood), Rafa Villasenior (Paramount) and Kelly Malveaux (Poly).
The team members will be honored at a breakfast at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Sheraton Long Beach.
Awards for the best lineman and back, and coach of the year will be announced at the breakfast.
