PACOIMA — Five people were injured during a weekend shootout between rival gangs, police said Sunday.
Two parties at houses in the 9500 block of Amboy Avenue got out of control at about 10:35 p.m. Saturday when party-goers at one house threw bottles into the yard of the house next door, said Officer Don Cox of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Party-goers at the second house, Cox said, retaliated by shooting into the crowd of about 200 people in the yard of the neighboring house. Five youths between the ages of 16 and 20 were hit, Cox said, although no one suffered life-threatening injuries.
Authorities did not release the names and ages of the victims, who included both males and females.
Police are continuing to search for the attackers, Cox said.
