A network of 16 children’s service agencies, led by Five Acres in Altadena, will receive a $467,274 grant this fall to expand family preservation programs in Altadena and Pasadena, Los Angeles County officials have announced.
Five Acres, a center for abused and neglected children, will coordinate and monitor family preservation services offered by the network, according to the county Department of Children’s Services. The network will provide services such as health care, in-home counseling, child care, parent training, substance abuse treatment and special education.
Each year, the network expects to help 135 families, including more than 300 children. Families will be referred to the network by the Department of Children’s Services and area probation offices.
