Three Santa Ana teen-agers arrested Friday after three holdups confessed to a string of robberies in Orange and two other cities, police said.
Orange police officers spotted the suspects’ car and followed it onto the Costa Mesa Freeway after a robbery was reported shortly after midnight, according to Detective Jorge DeSouza of the Orange Police Department.
After stopping the car near McFadden Street, police recovered two loaded handguns and a BB gun resembling a .45-caliber pistol, DeSouza said.
Police said the trio admitted to “numerous” street robberies in Orange, Santa Ana and Westminster, including three that evening.
Booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery were Juan Carlos Gonzalez, 19, and Gregorio Rangel, 18. A 16-year-old juvenile was booked into Juvenile Hall, police said.
