OXNARD : Assailants Attack Occupants of House
- Share via
An Oxnard home was attacked Sunday night by a group of baseball bat-wielding assailants, one of whom fired several shots from a handgun before fleeing the area, authorities said.
The 6:40 p.m. incident occurred at a home in the 3400 block of South A Street, according to Oxnard Police Sgt. Gene Thayer.
The five or six assailants--suspected to be gang members from the Los Angeles area--forced their way into the home and attacked its occupants with baseball bats, Thayer said.
At one point, one attacker took out a handgun and fired several shots into the walls of the house, police said. None of the rounds struck any of the occupants. Several pieces of furniture were also destroyed during the attack, Thayer said.
Thayer said that although some of the victims had apparently been hit with baseball bats, none of them sought medical treatment.
As of 9 p.m. Sunday, no one had been arrested.
No further details were immediately available.
