Two Girls’ Playoff Games Are Moved to Wednesday

Two high school girls’ playoff basketball games that originally were scheduled for tonight will be played Wednesday so they won’t conflict with boys’ games that feature the same schools.
Mater Dei’s girls’ team, seeded second in Division I-A, lost a coin flip to Fountain Valley and will play the third-seeded Barons at Huntington Beach. Had the Monarchs won the flip, they would have played tonight as part of a doubleheader with the boys’ team at the Bren Center. The Mater Dei boys’ team, seeded No. 1, plays Glendora.
The other game that was changed is Marina-Woodbridge in Division II-AA. The top-seeded Warriors won the coin flip and will play host to Marina at Irvine; the Woodbridge boys’ team plays Riverside J.W. North tonight at University.
The Southern Section also announced its schedule for the girls’ championship games Friday and Saturday at the Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State.
On Friday, the winner of the Woodbridge-Marina game will meet the Mission Hills Alemany-Riverside J.W. North winner at 4:30 p.m. for the Division II-AA title, and the Mater Dei-Fountain Valley winner will take on the Ventura Buena-Chino winner at 6:15 p.m. in the I-A championship.
On Saturday, the Division II-A championship will match the Brea Olinda-Edison winner against the Pasadena Muir-Norco winner at 3:15 p.m.
