Two students at Bell Intermediate School have won awards totaling $800 from the California Assn. for the Gifted, a spokesman for the Garden Grove Unified School District said.
The students--who were the only ones in Southern California to win the prestigious special learning grants--were among 27 students in gifted and talented education programs statewide competing for the awards, spokesman Alan Trudell said.
Marcus Maczynski, 13, will use his $300 grant to attend Space Camp at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Holly Greenwood, 14, will use her $500 grant to study drama at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, Trudell said.
