POMONA : Speakers to Explain Impact of Prop. 187

The Pomona Council of Youth, an independent youth group, will host a free informational meeting on the ramifications of Proposition 187 on Monday.
The measure, which passed in November but has been challenged in the courts, would deny public education and some free medical care to illegal immigrants.
Speakers will include representatives from the Asian-American-Pacific Legal Defense Center, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, and youth activists from Latino, African American and Asian student groups.
The event will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 401 N. Gibbs St., from 6 to 8 p.m.
