CANYON COUNTRY — A 28-year-old man who allegedly killed a hitchhiker he had picked up last week near Magic Mountain was arrested Sunday at his home, authorities said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s homicide detectives arrested Jeffrey Works of Canyon Country on suspicion of picking up the hitchhiker, killing him and dumping his body near Gorman, Deputy Matthew Rodriguez said.
The identity of the victim was not released and no motive for the killing was known.
Detectives said Works picked up the hitchhiker on Magic Mountain Parkway near the Golden State Freeway in Valencia. The man’s body was found Thursday near Smokey Bear Road outside Gorman, Rodriguez said.
