In honor of the day the U.S. Constitution was signed, a giant replica of the 208-year-old document, accompanied by a 40-foot parchment scroll for members of the public to sign, will be on display this weekend.
Former President Ronald Reagan was the first to sign the reproduction Wednesday. The public may sign the document at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum near Simi Valley on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The signed replica will be put on permanent display at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, the sponsor of Constitution Week.
On Sept. 17, 1787, George Washington and 38 representatives from 12 states signed the original Constitution, which is stored at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
