Update : Follow-up on the news : LAGUNA BEACH : Billboard Gets 15-Year Extension
- Share via
Despite grumbling from some residents, the city’s only billboard will remain standing for another 15 years.
The City Council this week unanimously approved an agreement with the sign owner, Van Wagner Outdoor, ending a lawsuit against the city and allowing the billboard to stay until 2010.
In 1989, the city ordered the sign removed by 1994 as part of a development permit approval, prompting a suit from the sign owner.
Residents have tried for a decade to get rid of the sign, which most recently displayed an advertisement for a Laguna Niguel housing development.
