Monroe Wilson; Longtime Clerk for City Council

Monroe Wilson, 85, retired veteran clerk to the Los Angeles City Council. Born in Knoxville, Tenn., Wilson moved to Los Angeles as a child and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public administration at USC. After service in World War II, he joined the city clerk’s office, where he worked for 30 years, principally with the council. He was active in the American Legion, serving as commander of San Marino Post 239 and working in the group’s Boy’s State project. He became a master mason, serving in the Plaza de Los Angeles, the Golden Gavel and South Pasadena lodges. Wilson also served as secretary of the San Marino Historical Society.
