A blizzard is on the way.
Five tons of snow will be delivered to the Boys & Girls Club playgrounds at noon Saturday for a holiday party for about 350 children.
Computer distributor Ingram Micro Corp., based in Santa Ana, donated the snow so that the youngsters can take part in what the club is calling the Snowball Olympics.
“The majority of the participants, who are ages 7 to 12, will play with snow for the first time,” said John Brewster, the club’s executive director.
Activities will include snowball relays, team snowball tossing and a snowman contest, he said.
Volunteers from Ingram Micro’s philanthropic committee will host the event, which will also feature pinata breaking, storytelling and holiday crafts projects.
Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive at 3 p.m. to hand out gifts and snacks.
The clubhouse is at 950 W. Highland St.
