Change Sought in Development Deal

City officials have asked for a commitment from the developer of a proposed shopping center in northwest Pasadena that a full-service supermarket will anchor the project for at least 20 years.
The City Council this week also asked developer Danny Bakewell to pledge more money before he gets to build the project with the help of $10 million in city money.
The council decided Monday to seek to amend a development agreement, reached with Bakewell last year, for the 77,000-square-foot Fair Grove Renaissance Shopping Plaza.
Last month, Bakewell asked the city to amend the agreement after he finalized a proposed lease with Vons for space at the center.
