CSUN Shows No Mercy in Own Softball Tournament

The Cal State Northridge softball team won twice, invoking the eight-run mercy rule in each game, as the Matadors defeated Utah State, 8-0, in six innings Tuesday then trounced Northwestern, 14-2, in 5 1/2 innings at the Cal State Northridge tournament.
Scia Maumausolo went five for five in the two games, including a solo home run in each game.
BASEBALL
Santa Barbara 5, Oxnard 2--Scott Foli doubled in a run and later scored on a throwing error for the host Condors (14-6, 7-2) in a Western State Conference North Division upset.
Cuesta 8, Ventura 3--Tim Stallings had two hits, including a double, as the visiting Pirates (10-9, 4-5) dropped a WSC North Division game.
Pierce 5, Glendale 3--Carlos Nunez drove home Mike Glendenning with a single in the seventh inning for the Brahmas (12-8, 4-4) in a WSC South Division game.
