Loy Vaught scored 15 points and had 13 rebounds but the Clippers lost their exhibition opener, 86-74, to the Detroit Pistons Friday night at Auburn Hills, Mich. Grant Hill scored 18 points and Otis Thorpe had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Pistons.
