LAPD Motorcycle Officer Dies After Being Hit by Pickup Truck

A Los Angeles police motorcycle officer was killed when struck by a pickup truck Wednesday evening, authorities said.
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center spokesman Ron Wise said the officer suffered a “major chest injury.” He was taken to the hospital about 6 p.m. and died a few hours later.
Authorities did not release the name of the officer. Police Chief Willie L. Williams and Police Commissioner Raymond Fisher were at the hospital with the officer shortly after the accident, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 5:50 p.m. in the 3900 block of West 8th Street, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said.
Details of the accident were not known.
