Children’s Services Badly Overworked

Re “Of Abuse, Betrayal, Vindication” (May 22): Anna Kokotovic speaks of an overworked Children’s Protective Service in California. I can affirm this. As a mandated reporter, I was recently required to make a report of suspected abuse. I was placed on hold for 50 minutes. Is the average person who is not mandated going to wait this long? Is it any wonder children are falling through the cracks? Society and our representatives in government need to examine the barriers that stand in the way of protecting our children.
