Two Main Streets to Get Traffic-Slowing Devices
- Share via
Road crews will begin installing traffic-slowing devices on two major thoroughfares in West Hollywood today.
Speed bumps will be put on Rosewood Avenue between Doheny Drive and Robertson Boulevard, and a so-called choker will be set up along Havenhurst Drive between Sunset Boulevard and Fountain Avenue.
The choker consists of planters set along the road’s edge to narrow the street, said Lucy Dyke, West Hollywood’s transportation manager.
The City Council approved the traffic control measures after neighbors complained that speeding motorists took shortcuts through residential neighborhoods to reach commercial strips.
The council will reevaluate the efficiency of the devices in a year before deciding whether to install them in other locations, Dyke said.
