Cheer, Dance Squads to Defend Their Titles

Orange Coast College’s cheer and dance squads soon will head to Florida to defend their championship titles in the 1998 Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships.
The competition will be Jan. 9-10, at the Walt Disney World/MGM Resorts in Orlando.
The cheer squad is the two-time defending national champion, becoming in 1996 the first California community college team to win a title. The team won the title again this year.
The college’s dance squad won the national title this year.
Both teams will have a dress rehearsal Jan. 6 at the college’s Peterson Gymnasium. Admission is free for the 9 p.m. show.
