Taxicab Ordinance Topic for Discussion
A county ordinance that would establish fees and standards for taxicabs will be discussed by the Fullerton City Council on Tuesday and by the La Habra City Council on Thursday.
The two cities and a number of other municipalities are considering approving the ordinance, which would implement the Orange County Taxi Administration Program.
Under the program, the Orange County Transportation Authority would take over the regulation of taxicabs throughout the county. OCTA would issue licenses and driver permits, and review applications and conduct background and insurance checks.
In addition, the program would govern fares and permit costs.
