Valley Feels 3.3 Quake; No Damage Reported

For once, an earthquake that occurred close to the San Fernando Valley on Thursday was not a Northridge aftershock, Caltech scientists said.
The magnitude 3.3 quake struck at 1:08 p.m. and was centered in the San Gabriel Mountains, nine miles north of Sunland and 10 miles northeast of San Fernando.
The temblor was felt through much of the Valley and as far away as Los Angeles’ Westside.
Neither damage nor casualties were reported. A 3.3 earthquake is about 70 times smaller than the 5.0 and 4.9 Northridge aftershocks that took place west of the Santa Clarita Valley on April 26 and 27.
