One man died and another was behind bars after a fatal shooting outside a bar Tuesday night, police said.
Shortly before 11 p.m., officers were called to the Puerta Vallarta Bar and found a man who had been shot outside, according to Sgt. David Keetle.
Paramedics took the victim to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Keetle said.
Meanwhile, authorities said, patrons of the bar detained the alleged gunman, identified by police as Jorge Portillo, 27, of Pomona.
Portillo was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to the jail ward of County-USC Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries suffered while he was being detained for police, Keetle said.
Police said the motive for the shooting was unknown. The victim’s name was withheld until his family could be notified.
