The U.S. Department of Education recently awarded a $235,827 grant to Cal State Fullerton for its Upward Bound program.
The university program is one of three that works with city organizations, school districts and community colleges to help teens in underrepresented minority groups complete high school and pursue a higher education.
Fifty high school students from the Santa Ana Unified School District are enrolled in the program, which offers biweekly after-school and summer sessions, monthly classes and college advisement and career planning services.
