Pets Need Homes as Shelter Is Renovated

Some animals are in need of a new home while their old one is being remodeled.
As the North Hollywood Animal Shelter begins a renovation project, its feline and canine occupants could use a new retreat.
The remodeling will create more space to shelter animals and provide what general manager Dan Knapp says is a key step in preparing healthy animals for adoption.
“The old shelter was used to the point of exhaustion,” he said.
There is temporary housing, such as the mobile kennel, for some animals, Knapp said, but shelter staff members are concerned there may not be room for all the animals.
Staff members would prefer that the animals be adopted, Knapp said. Anyone interested in adopting a pet should stop by the shelter at 13131 Sherman Way.
