Man Shot in Drive-By Near High School

A 22-year-old man was shot Tuesday, apparently by gang members, near Channel Islands High School, police said.
Anthony J. Smith of Oxnard was walking just off Raiders Way about 5 p.m. when four men in a light blue car pulled up alongside and began yelling gang slogans, said Oxnard Police Cmdr. Bob Elder.
Smith started to run, but the car chased him, and at least one of the men inside began firing a gun, Elder said.
Smith was shot in the leg, and he was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition Tuesday night.
No arrests had been made.
