Golden West Tops Riverside in Softball

Pinch-runner Melissa Greco scored in the top of the ninth inning on a single and an error to give Golden West a 1-0 victory over Riverside in Orange Empire Conference softball Wednesday at Riverside.
Jill Cardiel walked in the inning and was replaced by Greco. Jayme Christiansen singled to center field, where the ball was misplayed.
Pitcher Amy McManus went the distance for Golden West (14-6, 6-2), giving up one hit.
Mandy Dorow pitched a two-hitter for Riverside (8-13, 1-7).
In other Orange Empire Conference games:
Cypress 10, Irvine Valley 0 (5, mercy)--Reanna Mendoza pitched a four-hitter in five innings to improve her record to 10-0 for Cypress (24-2, 8-0). Irvine Valley is 4-13, 2-6.
Fullerton 7, Saddleback 0--Freshman catcher Crystal Aguirre was two for four and had three RBIs for Fullerton.
Michelle Harrison pitched five innings for the Hornets (11-8, 5-3), striking out four and allowing two hits. In her last 35 innings, Harrison has given up only two earned runs and 10 hits. Saddleback drops to 14-6, 5-3.
Santa Ana 6, Orange Coast 0--Kim Bentley was three for four with two doubles and a run to lead Santa Ana (11-11, 5-3). Jennifer Hunt pitched a two-hitter for Santa Ana.
