Re “SOAR May Look Good But It’s No Magic Wand,” April 19.

If the government passed a law that said no person could change their profession, that whatever they are doing now is the use to which they must put the rest of their life, such a law would not be tolerated for long.

However, with zoning the government tells us we cannot change the profession of our property, the use to which we put our land, and intolerance in this case is negligible. Why?
