HomeBase Inc.: The Irvine operator of home improvement warehouses reported net income of $91,000 for the first fiscal quarter, which included a charge of $667,000 from a pension plan termination. For the like period last year, the company said it would have earned an estimated $3.8 million, or 10 cents a share, had it been a stand-alone company before the spinoff of BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. Sales were down 3% to $348.9 million from $360.2 million.
