MARINA DEL REY — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reopened its Marina del Rey station Friday, seven years after the dockside facility was mothballed because of budget cuts.
The station’s 80 deputies will patrol the marina and its waterways, as well as Ladera Heights, View Park, Windsor Hills and Baldwin Hills.
Emergency calls in those areas have been handled by the Lennox station.
Department officials said the reopening would result in a faster response to emergency calls, on land and on the water. The station, at 13581 Fiji Way, has a jail and will be the base for special scuba diving and rescue teams.
“We’re full service again,” said Lt. Stephen Johnson.
