FULLERTON

The largest graduating class in Cal State Fullerton’s history will parade through commencement exercises Saturday. The 6,225 graduates are the first to participate in a university-wide commencement ceremony since 1974, when the university replaced the event with several “mini-commencements” over multiple days. Cal State Fullerton also will present honorary doctorates to Academy Award-winning film director James Cameron and community leader Clarence Iwao Nishizu. The ceremony begins at 8 a.m. on the sports fields north of Titan Gymnasium. A crowd of 28,000 is expected.

In addition, an awards reception to honor student achievements will be held at 7 p.m. tonight in the Titan Student Union’s Portola Pavilion. Honorees include the winner of the 1998-99 Outstanding Professor Award, George A. Marcoulides.
