Coming to Terms With Aging Parents

* “Time to Talk” [Sept. 12] really touched home. I first learned of my parents’ decline when my father called to tell me, “We are out of food.”
Since we live nearby and visit them regularly, I was stunned. It was the beginning of their eight-year decline and eventual passing.
The questions you suggested (and others) are necessary for those boomers who haven’t come to realize yet that after, or in addition to, their children, they will be taking care of Mom and Dad.
Now is the time to start planning.
