The city collected its first revenue check this week from the state for motor vehicle licensing fees.
Interim City Manager William Talley said the check for $273,659.11 was a little more than what the staff had projected and will go a long way toward paying some of the bills the city has accumulated since November.
After the City Council approves a bank for the city to work with, Talley said, the city will deposit the money and begin writing checks for the council to approve at its next meeting March 2.
Talley said the city will receive a check for about the same amount every month.
