A suspect in the fatal shooting of a Canoga Park father of six has turned himself in at the Van Nuys police station, authorities said.
Lamar Julius Singleton, 39, allegedly shot 42-year-old Leonardo Gomez-Perez outside a small shopping center at Roscoe Boulevard and De Soto Avenue during a Feb. 6 crime spree that included two robberies, police said.
Singleton walked into the police station around 2 p.m. Monday accompanied by his parents and wife, Det. Mike Oppelt said.
On the day of the shooting, Singleton robbed a customer at gunpoint in a Winnetka 7-Eleven, police said. About three hours after Gomez-Perez was shot, Singleton robbed another 7-Eleven in Canoga Park, detectives said.
Singleton has a “lengthy criminal record,” Oppelt said. He will be arraigned today, the detective said.
