An unidentified man who reportedly was in a wheelchair was fatally shot Friday night in Beverly Hills, the first slaying in the city this year, police said.
Police Lt. Mike Hines said officers received a call shortly after 9 p.m. about a man with a gun in the 8000 block of Wilshire Boulevard. When they arrived there, they found the victim with gunshot wounds.
Witnesses told officers they had seen a man with a handgun run east from the strip mall where the victim was found.
The dead man reportedly had been helping a friend close a jewelry and pawn shop.
The victim was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 10 p.m., police said.
