Mater Dei Assistant Killed in Accident

Mike Ulloa, 34, a Santa Ana Mater Dei High football assistant and the son of Monarchs’ softball coach Ed Ulloa, was killed early Monday morning in a traffic accident.
Ulloa’s Honda Accord veered onto a shoulder and struck a tree near Culver Drive in Irvine on the southbound San Diego Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. Ulloa was partially ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP said he was not wearing a seat belt.
A funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas More Church in Irvine.
