SEASON AT A GLANCE: Asghari, a point guard, has scored 30 or more points in five of his last six games. He’s averaging 19.8 points, 5.5 assists and 2.8 steals to give Taft (13-4) an effective offensive weapon to combine with sophomore Steve Smith.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Asghari scored 35 points in an 87-77 West Valley League victory over Granada Hills and came back to contribute 34 points, nine assists and four steals in a 90-76 victory over Birmingham. “He shoots very well and he’s more athletic than people realize,” Coach Derrick Taylor said.
