To make it an American gold-medal sweep in 1,500-meter Olympic speedskating, Jennifer Rodriguez, the Floridian who now lives in Park City, Utah, will need to pass two higher-ranked competitors in the women’s race today. Derek Parra took care of the men’s 1,500 Tuesday, and Rodriguez, who got a bronze behind Chris Witty’s gold in the 1,000, is ranked third in World Cup standings. In front of her are Germany’s Anni Friesinger and Canada’s Cindy Klassen. Another German, Claudia Pechstein, is fourth in the rankings and took the gold in the 3,000 in world-record time.
