The San Diego Zoo’s newest panda is taking its first glimpses of the world.
Veterinarians at the zoo reported this week that the 2-month-old panda is beginning to open its eyes.
“The eyes have opened to the point where it can see light,” zoo spokesman Paul Garcia said.
The male cub was born on Aug. 19 to Bai Yun, a 13-year-old giant panda. The cub, which has not yet been named, is in excellent health, Garcia said.
