All Charges Dropped in Child Molestation Case

Sacramento County prosecutors have dropped all charges against a state worker who was nearly acquitted of child molestation charges in January.
Prosecutors had pledged to retry Guillermo Uresti, 36, for allegedly molesting a 4-year-old girl at a birthday party, but dropped the case when they were barred from using videotaped testimony from the alleged victim. Uresti was beaten by other partygoers before police arrived, and said he also was beaten in jail.
In January, jurors voted 10 to 2 and 11 to 1 to acquit Uresti, who works for the state Employment Development Department, on charges that would have carried two life terms.
