Unfair sentencing

Re “Ex-priest gets 10 years in church sex abuse scandal,” Dec. 4

This priest finally is receiving a just punishment of 10 years for his vile abuse of his office and his victims. When will Cardinal Roger Mahony be brought up on charges of aiding a criminal act? I suppose no one in the prosecutor’s office would want to touch that one.

Speaking of justice, a man in Henderson, Nev., is subject to up to 35 years in prison for cutting down or killing several hundred trees (“The trees died for his Sin City view,” Dec. 4). Wow! Ten years for sexual abuse of dozens of young people, and 35 years for some trees? But then, Lady Justice is blind, isn’t she?
