About 5,800 people were without power Tuesday night across a swath of Santa Monica, utility officials said.
The lights were out in an area bounded roughly by Pico Boulevard on the north, Marine Street on the south, Ocean Avenue on the west and 17th Street on the east, according to Southern California Edison.
The Santa Monica Police Department said that the outage appeared to be caused by downed power lines near 7th and Marine streets. Utility crews were on the scene, police said.
