Two lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway from Castaic to Gavin Canyon will stay closed for at least four more hours after a small brush fire erupted in Newhall, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 10-acre brush fire prompted a SigAlert at 12:44 p.m. Saturday, said CHP Officer Monica Posada.
A CHP unit heard an unconfirmed report of a person in a red car throwing an unknown object out of the vehicle, which may have started the blaze, authorities said.
