A 22-year-old Sylmar man was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with the stabbing death of his mother, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers responding to a call at a home in the 13900 block of Herron Street found a 55-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds lying on the living room floor, a department statement said.
The woman, identified as Matilda Sanchez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her son, who has not been identified, was found covered in blood. An uncle who lives in the home told investigators that Sanchez was stabbed by her son, the statement said.
Police believe the man may have called 911 to “implicate his mother as the aggressor.”
Officers have responded to the home previously after reports of the man kicking doors and setting fires, authorities said.
