Reader photo: Modern vintage
While it’s easy to take a gorgeous shot of Santa Monica (Southern California Moments is full of these amazing photos), this photo taken by photographer Jonathan Nafarrete takes the beautiful scenery of the beach and takes it through a time warp, so to speak.
While walking through Santa Monica with his compact 35 mm film camera in hand, he happened upon the original Hot Dog on a Stick when “these young ladies in vintage bathing suits walked from the pier and all lined up to get hot dogs at the stand,” wrote Nafarrete in an email.
The vintage stand, the bathing suits, that silver truck in the background -- all add up to a beautiful image of what the beach could have once looked like, yet with modern reminders of where we are now.
